Please could all band members ensure that their suitcase is labelled and that they bring 4 extra labels with them. These will be needed for each different trip and each trip will have different address on them.

Rehearsal and briefing meeting.

On Tuesday 12th August,  Mike booty has requested that all Singapore band members attend the final rehearsal which will be followed at 8.45pm by a briefing meeting for everybody travelling to Singapore.   Final travel arrangements will be discussed and final guidance on hand luggage provided.

Departure times

Can all  those who are departing for Singapore assemble at Diss resource Centre for 9.30 am on the morning of the 14th August.   The coach will leave at 9.45am.  This will allow us plenty of time to get to Heathrow  and allow a stop on route.   Could all band members travel in the polo shirt provided.

Coming home.

The flight is due  at Heathrow at 7.10pm.    Allowing time to get through customs etc, it is anticipated that we shall be back at Diss at 12.00 midnight.  If this time varies, we will contact you via the telephone tree once we are on route.

After more than a year of planning, we are nearly there.    A huge amount of time and support has be given by the committee, supervisors, parents, players and sponsors.   Thank you to all those concerned, without their support, this trip would not be taking place.

Grand Draw

The draw finally took place on 20th July at our concert in Horning and, after months of anticipation and ticket selling efforts, the top prizes found a home.   Well done to everyone whose hard work over several months really paid off.  The total raised for the Far East tour was £1,628.

A big thank you must go to our sponsors, the Park Hotel, Diss  whose generous donation offset some of the costs of running this draw.  Thanks must also go to the following for their very generous contributions: Airviews Aerial Photography for donating the top prize; JW Construction (East Anglia) Ltd for their contribution towards the second prize; An anonymous donor who provided us with a fantastic third prize; Many other companies and tourist attractions throughout Norfolk whose generosity enabled us to give out an amazing 26 prizes;

And thank you to you, the band members and families, whose determined efforts over many weeks ensured that this was a successful fundraiser.  A special mention also to Jessica Thomas and Joe Paul and their families, who worked hard to sell tickets even though they are not themselves going to the Far East!!   Well done everyone!

Congratulations!

Pollard Awards 2008

For new members, the Pollards is the Band’s own annual music competition.  It is held in September, a week before the Last Night of the Proms concert, and is open to all registered members of the Band.  Entry forms are now available and while it may seem some way off, it is worth noting that the competition is only 3 weeks after the Singapore trip.

Last Night of the Proms Concert 2008

We are moving venue for the Last Night of the Proms Concert.  This year we will be at the King’s Centre, King Street in Norwich.  This is a superb location and the initial visit suggests that facilities will be much better than St Andrew’s Hall.  More details to follow but the important thing to note is the date, which is Saturday 27 September.  Tickets should be available from the middle of August.

Trustee & Committee Vacancies

Both the Secretary, Phil McGahan, and the Publicity and Promotions Officer, Steve Hall, will be stepping down from their respective positions at the AGM in November.  Anyone who is interested in either of these roles is asked to speak to the current incumbents directly.
